VDK Group is seeking a detail-oriented Paint & Finishing Technician to join our Custom Entry Door Division. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, painting, staining, and finishing high-quality custom entry doors to meet VDK's craftsmanship and quality standards. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing a flawless finish, works efficiently in a team environment, and is committed to continuous improvement and workplace safety.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare custom entry doors and components for finishing by sanding, cleaning, masking, and inspecting surfaces.
  • Apply paints, stains, clear coats, primers, and specialty finishes using spray equipment and other finishing methods.
  • Ensure consistent colour, texture, and finish quality across all products.
  • Inspect completed doors for quality, appearance, and workmanship before they move to the next stage of production.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain spray booths, spray guns, and finishing equipment.
  • Mix coatings and materials according to manufacturer specifications.
  • Follow production schedules to ensure customer orders are completed on time.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Identify defects or quality concerns and communicate them promptly to the Production Supervisor.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and product quality.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work collaboratively with other production departments to ensure smooth workflow.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in spray painting, industrial finishing, cabinet finishing, automotive painting, or a related finishing role is considered an asset.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing premium-quality products.
  • Ability to accurately match colours and recognize finish inconsistencies.
  • Comfortable using spray equipment, sanding tools, and finishing materials.
  • Ability to read and follow work orders and production instructions.
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
  • Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 lbs.
